About the author
Meet Jeremy Hall, a senior double major in biology and finance, from Chicago’s South Side. For Jeremy, resilience, resourcefulness, and the power of community were more than values they were lifelines that fueled every step of his journey, from neighborhood blocks to the threshold of national opportunity.
Jeremy’s journey through college has been driven by a clear mission: to serve, innovate, and uplift. As a student leader, he has spearheaded the CBE University Innovation Fellows Program and championed new initiatives as a UNCF Ambassador. Active involvement in the Morehouse Business Association and Collegiate 100 has allowed him to create lasting change and inspire others to do the same. Along the way, recognition through the Michael L. Lomax, Maurice Washington, and Netflix Reed Hastings Scholarships marked milestones not just of achievement, but of relentless perseverance and belief that hard work opens doors.
Yet, the road was rarely easy. Jeremy arrived at college with limited means, often struggling with basic needs like his meal plan. He hustled mowing lawns and knocking on doors to make ends meet. Rather than letting hardship define him, he turned challenges into stepping stones, fueling a drive that led to ringing the Nasdaq closing bell, landing internships with Raytheon Technologies and Goldman Sachs, and ultimately serving as Lead UNCF Ambassador.
Entrepreneurship became both his engine and his education. By building Motion Academy, launching e-commerce businesses, creating a clothing brand, growing a social media agency, and mastering options trading, Jeremy gained real-world business wisdom, grit, and the confidence to bet on himself all while still a student.
Above all, Jeremy is grounded in service. He has volunteered to help over 2,000 families and built a comprehensive student opportunity database, believing true success is measured by the doors you open for others.
Why Jeremy Wrote The HBCU Hustle
Jeremy’s inspiration for The HBCU Hustle comes from lived experience: the wins, the pitfalls, and the moments no textbook could teach. He wrote this book for students who carry grit and vision, regardless of background or resources. His message is simple and powerful: where you start does not define where you can go. Success isn’t about having all the answers or the shiniest résumé, it’s about consistency, adaptability, relentless learning, and the unwavering commitment to lift others as you climb.
This book is Jeremy’s invitation for you to:
Write your own story. Defy every limit. Make your presence count in the classroom, in business, and wherever your purpose leads. With faith, hustle, and heart, you can surpass expectations, even your own.
